Government of Odisha have established an autonomous Institute in the name and style of BijuPattnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO) under World Bank assisted scheme to meet the emerging demand of well trained technical manpower in the field of television network and film production activities. Situated on the bank of the river Mahanadi, BPFTIO occupies an independent space in the sprawling campus of BhubananandaOdisha School of Engineering (BOSE), Cuttack, the oldest Engineering School of the State. Funded by Government of Odisha, Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, the institute offers diploma courses in 4 years degree courses as Cinematography, Sound Recording & Sound Design and Film Editing.

About the Programme
The Biju Patnaik Film & Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO) offers a comprehensive four-year degree programme in the core technical disciplines of filmmaking – Cinematography, Sound Recording & Sound Design, and Film Editing.
Designed for students with little or no prior experience in filmmaking, the curriculum provides a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training. While students are introduced to all aspects of film production, the programme gradually enables them to specialize in their chosen technical domain, preparing them for professional careers in the film and television industry.
The primary objective of the programme is to develop skilled, creative, and industry-ready professionals who can confidently establish themselves and contribute meaningfully to the evolving media landscape.

At BPFTIO, learning goes beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to explore their creativity through a structured progression of practical exercises and projects.
