Overview

Editor is often considered the “second director” of a film. The Department is well equipped with analogue and digital, professional and broadcast-quality video and film editing systems.

Facilities include Apple Non-Linear Editing setups with Final Cut Pro 7, Final Cut Pro X, and Avid Media Composer, along with Windows-based systems using Adobe Premiere Pro and graphics & animation tools.

Students receive both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training in linear and non-linear editing for film and video formats, helping them understand the craft and creative aspects of filmmaking.

Practical Exposure

Students work extensively on editing projects using real footage, developing skills in storytelling, pacing, rhythm, and visual continuity. Practical exercises are designed to build both technical proficiency and aesthetic understanding.

Training includes editing across film, video, and digital platforms, preparing students for diverse production environments.

Concept & Approach

The course focuses on developing a strong understanding of editing concepts such as cinematic time, space, and continuity. Students learn how raw footage can be transformed into meaningful narratives.

Emphasis is placed on the editor’s role in shaping the final film, supported by regular screenings, analysis, and hands-on projects.
